WIRES Separator Filter Element for Fuel Water Separation
The WIRES separator filter element is the polishing stage in a two-stage coalescer system used to remove free and emulsified water from aviation turbine fuel (Jet A/A-1, JP-8), gasoline, diesel, and kerosene. While the upstream coalescer cartridge merges fine water droplets into larger drops that settle by gravity, the downstream separator element uses an oleophobic (oil-wettable, water-repellent) phenolic-impregnated glass fiber media to block any remaining free water droplets while allowing clean fuel to pass through at high flow. The green-colored media provides immediate visual identification as the separator stage. Manufactured to API 1581 / AS4069 / DEF STAN 91-91 performance requirements, the element delivers outlet fuel cleanliness well below the 15 ppm water specification.
